CrowdFanatic (Vancouver, BC) - a revolutionary Web 2.0 start-up are currently looking for an exceptional R&D Manager with extensive background at the areas of Social Networking, eCommerce and Web 2.O applications (Online gaming - advantage). We are seeking for a brilliant and enthusiastic technology leader with an extensive management experience and strong entrepreneurial spirit. The right candidate will have the opportunity to define and build the architecture for a breakthrough application poised to become a global blockbuster. Target technologies - open source.

Responsibilities:

• Managing the R&D team
• Chief Architect - Design the Front End & Back End elements of the system
• Identify major requirements of the system and necessary components
• Write code when necessary
• Understand and resolve technical system issues
• Provide direct mentorship to all R&D team members
• Review and supervise implementation of third party solutions
• Recruit R&D team members

Requirements:

I. Front End skills

• Extensive background at the areas of Social Networking, eCommerce and web 2.O applications (Online gaming - advantage)
• Familiarity with current web design/development tools
• Understanding of server-side technologies
• Experience with cross-browser platforms and issues
• Extensive experience working with open source environment
• Extensive experience working most of the following: PHP/Apache, AJAX, Java, Struts, Flash/Flex, XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript

II. Back End Skills

Extensive experience working with at least several of the following: Python, Ruby, or PHP, Java, JBoss, Drupal, C/C++ design and development skills

III. DB and data modeling skills

• Strong DB skills - Postgres, Mysql (Oracle- optional)
• Understanding of OS internals - Unix/Linux preferred

IV. Scalability and performance

Extensive experience in designing high-scalability solutions, multi-tiered, mission critical applications that poised to serve millions of users 24/7/365

V. Education and experience

At minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and 5 years of project leader/architect experience

VI. Additional skills

• Strong leadership, interpersonal and decision making skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Ability to fully provide thought leadership and proactive systems approach
• Understanding of the business, business drivers and business strategy
• Strong architecture, design, coding, problem solving, and debugging skills
• Strong unit testing, load testing, endurance testing and quality assurance testing skills
• Strong experience in architecting, designing and implementing high performance and scalable enterprise level systems
